Redemption
With packs of superstars, the US men's national basketball team (also widely known as "Dream Team") is arguably the best national team in the world. However, they were defeated by their own arrogance and in the summer of 2004 in Athens after losing to Argentina in semifinal. Four years later, they successfully redeemed themselves in Beijing by winning the gold medal once again.

この はいく だい すき です。 I really like the basketball one at the beginning. It ending with "redemption" has a very strong effect.
ReplyDeleteI like how your haikus combine both contemporary events, human emotion, and natural phenomena. This array of topics really engages readers. とてもいいです!
ReplyDeleteI liked how your senryu had varieties of topic that many people can relate to. Just one thing, when you used white in your second Haiku, white is usually written ホワイト in katakana.
ReplyDeleteアメリカのバスケットボールはだれがいましたか?
ReplyDeleteAs I wrote on your earlier post, I am at a loss for words when our all-star players get defeated in international competition. Anyways, that is besides the point. Your last haiku reminds me of every summer when I fly back to school. Good imagery.
I like your last senryu--it will be summer soon. Will we be sad to leave school? At this point I am very much looking forward to summer break...
